At our “homey” and comfortable family practice, we love seeing children, babies and people of all ages. We have a children’s play area, so feel free to bring your children along to your regular visits too. We also provide baby changing facilities.

We use a three-visit approach at Aligned Family Chiropractic. The purpose is to accomplish several things:

  • Reduces the length of your first visit
  • Gives us time to correlate our findings
  • Avoids overloading you with too much information

At your first appointment, one of our assistants will welcome you and ask you to complete some preliminary paperwork. This will include a questionnaire on your health history. You also will be given information about the surface electromyography scan (sEMG) and X-rays. Then, you will be shown into the Orientation room where you will meet our chiropractor, Belinda Ambrose.

Consultation and exam

The purpose of your meeting with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see how chiropractic can possibly help you. Belinda will ask you questions about your particular concerns to gain a greater understanding of your current health status. She will then give you an introduction to chiropractic by explaining the principles behind how it works so you can develop a greater understanding of how it may help you.

Then, Belinda will perform the sEMG, which assesses the function of your spine and nervous system. She also will give you a full physical examination. This will be done on your second visit.

Please allow up to an hour for this appointment.

X-rays

If you need to have some X-rays done to assess the bone integrity of your spine, this will usually be done at this visit. You will be asked to sign a consent form indicating there is no chance that you are pregnant. Then you will be taken to the X-ray room where Belinda will take your images. These X-rays will provide extremely valuable information about the condition of your spine, and whether you are a suitable candidate for chiropractic.

You will need to allow up to half an hour for this visit.

Belinda will discuss the results of your exam and X-rays on your “Report of Findings” visit. At this appointment, she will provide you with a recommended schedule of care and some lifestyle advice. If you have any questions, please ask them during this visit.

If she has determined that chiropractic is appropriate for you, Belinda will give you your first adjustment.

We recommend that you bring your spouse or partner with you so they can support you on your journey towards better health by understanding what’s involved.

This visit will take about 45 minutes.

With the groundwork laid, we can determine what your spine and nervous system need, adjust you and get you on your way. Like a regular workout at the gym, each visit builds on the ones before. Miss a visit, and we can lose the momentum necessary to make the needed changes.

We recognise your time is valuable. We do everything possible to run on time and minimise the impact on your busy life.

Adjustments

Each time you come in for regular visits you will be required to sign the arrival register at the reception desk. Then, one of our assistants will direct you into the adjusting area. You will be asked to take off your belt and shoes and empty your pockets. If you’re able to do so, we’ll have you lie facedown on the adjusting table, so your body has time to relax before your adjustment is given.

Belinda will check your spine and adjust what is needed in that visit. After every appointment, you will need to allow 15 minutes to have a walk before getting into your car to drive home.
